well I hear this ticking sound near my distributor, but I'm guessing its the distributor that is ticking.

does this mean my distributor is going bad?

My car does start up fine and stuff so I'm not sure.

I think it does leak oil a little because i see dry burnt oil near the distributor.

Wonder how hard is it to change the little o ring and what happen if I don't change it in the long run?

Because I'm lazy and scare of my timing goes off.

dizzy ticking, eh? have you replaced your rotor/cap recently? I'd replace that before changing out the dizzy itself.

when was ur last valve lash adjustment?

Could be the Lost Motion Assemblies, but you say it sounds like the dist.?

When my EH2 had the OE D15B8, the dist. started clicking/ticking. Eventually it started to stall the engine and almost left me stranded one time.

i haven't change nothing or even touch the dizzy.

well it sound like the ticking is coming from the dizzy but I'm not positive on it.

I just know the ticking is near the dizzy. Well my car stall out like 2 days ago at the light and I started the motor up fine after that.

But I think it was my TB cable being too long so it close the TB plate shut.

But i fix that problem today and my rpm stay up at 800 instead of 100-300 where my motor seem about to die and it even shake.

I think i got a bomb in my car lol

I'd try a cap and rotor first as well but if you do replace it, just unhook the 2 plugs on the distributor, remove the three bolts holding it to the head and it slides right out. If you make a mark on both the cylinder head and old distributor and try to line the new distributor up in the same place you should be fine but may be a good idea to grab a timing light to fine tune it.

well for some reason myy car idle at 100 now where i could feel like my motor is about to die.

Is that a bad sign that the dizzy is going bad?

I seriously doubt that's the problem, even with the throttle cable disconnected it will idle at the same rpm as if it was connected (unless the cable is too tight, causing it to partially open the throttle plate, making it idle high).

Using the throttle cable to adjust idle is an incorrect method.

then how do i adjust it to make it stay because it keep dropping down to 100rpm to the point where it seem like my car is gonna die.

so is this about a ticking noise or low idle now?

idle can be adjusted by the idle screw on the TB, but 100rpms is really low and im surprised it automatically doesn't die. sounds like a vacuum line is clogged or has a leak. try cleaning ur TB with carb cleaner or by seafoaming it.

sometime it stay at 500 then drop 100 out of no where. I don't think my hose are bad because i replace all of them when i did the y7 to y8 manifold.

as for the ticking sound well i don't think my dizzy is bad because my car start up fine with no hesitation.

id double check my work, did it start doing this after the IM swap? or just randomly.

its possible you got a couple of plugs backwards and would cause this, i think the EVAP purge solenoid sensor, IAT sensor and the IACV sensor all have the same plugs, and would lead to this. after that id clean all that **** out in ur TB/IM with carb cleaner.

the clicking from the dizzy area could be a bad rotor, because the rotor spins and if its hitting one thing it would click (if you think about it). Anything that spins and hits something is gonna make a steady noise (clicking) and the noise will increase upon engine speed increases.

just randomly,let me adjust the TB idle and see how does it goes.

I'm sure all my hose and plugs are in the right place because i label them,if not my motor would be acting funny with high wack out rpm.

I'm not trying to start a war here, but if the dist. bearing was bad it would cause slop, allowing the rotor to hit the terminals causing the clicking. I don't think it's the rotor or the throttle cable. (RE: my first post)

IIRC the second line up on the tach is the 500 rpm mark.

Cleaned the IACV, or the FITV if it has one. What engine is this?

its a d167y with a y8 manifold and y7 TB that is FITV.

could i clean the fitv with carb cleaner as well?
i think i should buy brake cleaner.

Yes, either/or, I've used both for that. TB/Carb cleaner seeems to disolve stuff better though.

well i think i fix my idle from the TB adjustment idle.

as for the ticking i don't hear it no more even when i rev my motor.
