Re: thumping noise when slowing down.
If I were you I'd be checking to see if the lug nuts on your wheels are tight. Last two people that I talked to that had this problem about lost a wheel. Both of them had the lug nuts on finger tight and had the same symptoms.

cant feel it. sounds like its coming from the front. never torque wheels before no torque wrench. you hear it at the last 5-10 feet before u stop.
not sure if its related but i do no my rotors are warped and im changing those tues. the wheel shakes a little during hard braking. but cant hear the noise.

You might want to check your front suspension parts (lower control arms, upper control arms, ball joints, etc). I had a 'banging' noise and found LCA bushings were completely shot.

Re: thumping noise when slowing down.
sounds like a brake issue personally. i think OP is just confused on the thumping noise.
try slowing to a stop without your brakes (a "slight" ebrake tug comes to mind) and see if the noise goes away.
try slwoing up in gear if manual to see if the noise is present still.
loose lugnuts do making the weirdest sounds at the weirdest times. not a single car that i have worked on that had have loose lugnuts have sounded the same.

Re: thumping noise when slowing down.
Wife just had tire work done to solve slow leak problem at Honda dealer a week earlier. Initially no noise. Thumpin noise started week later. Came home from a business trip. I drove the car, heard the thumping noise.
Read this thread, went back out to the car, found 2 lug nuts loose on left front wheel. One was barely finger tight.
Mechanic must have been under time pressure and forgot to tighten all the lug nuts.
Thanks for the post. Looks like lug nuts are the first place to look when have a thumping noise.
I will keep everyone posted if the noise comes back.
Thanks, LTD
