Throwing CEL CODE 54. How do I fix it.?
Hi Everyone,
I am throwing a Code 54 which is the "Open or short in CKF sensor circuit, defective CKF sensor circuit". How do I fix it or check to make sure everything is in working condition. Pleaswe let me know where I can start looking and narrowing down where the problem is. Thank You for your help.

I will check that sensor to see if all the wires are connected and nothing melted. Thanks Hatchi.
Is there anything else I should check? I am running a 96 LS ecu on my 96 LS motor.

no one helps at all with CELs....everyone is more interested in door panels, seat swaps, light bulbs, etc. I have a code 6 on my car....i think the best thing to do is follow the troubleshooting in the Helms. I don't have a 6th gen Helms, but I could find out in my 5th gen helms...see what it says.

the reason why people in here don't help with the codes is because there's a table with all the codes listed. once you get the thrown code, look it up and then ask how to take care of it. and for the code 54. make sure it's not a code 45. code 54 is somewhat harder to repair. but then again...

It is a Code 54 because I have checked it quite a few times. what do I have to do to narrow down the problem?

hence him asking...and my asking in another post. I know what the code is for...I don't need a list on here...I can read my own Helms. Which is what I'll have to do to fix my problem since people don't seem to post on their similar experiences, etc.
And, I looked in my 5th gen Helms and found nothing on Code 54, so my only help can be to look in the 6th gen.

Do you have a multi-meter? You need it in order to look for 'opens and shorts'.
Now, if you don't have a meter, nor a Helms manual, then just start replacing stuff. Other than visually looking to see if something is cut or shorted, how can you verify anything?
CKF is specific to OBD2, which is why it will not be found in any 5th gen Helms.

If I am not mistaken, the manual (helms) has a troubleshooting guide and system check that tells you how to test just about every sensor on the car...may want to look there. Or the mech will prob figure it out. Good luck though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help...
