Re: (Dimi)
I'm fairly certain that the 1994 Civic manual states that the DX can go up to 92mph in 3rd, so I imagine on a short geared ITR transmission you would be somewhere in 4th gear.

Re: Through the traps in 3rd?? (breakneckvtec)
back when i had my LS and tranny, i would switch to 4th right before i finish the quarter. and that was with a 91 mph trap. so with the Si tranny, i believe youll be in 4th a good while before you finish.

Re: (Dimi)
This is using the stock redline (8000rpm) and stock tires or close to them. As you can see the Si tranny is very short compared to the LS's and the D series tranny's. I say with a 8600rpm limit like you are wanting will allow you to end the 1/4 mile in the top of 3rd gear. If it doesn't then just bump up your wheel diameter or get larger tires.

CTR cams to make going up to 8600 RPM worthwhile
8200 RPM is stock redline
8600 would be the new redline
Thats 400 more revs per gear
Thats more MPH with the same gearing per gear
SO if I am just shifting to 4th as I cross the line now, I was trying to find out if I could get through in the top of third with this setup and not need the extra shift saving a few tenths...in theory....you have been inlightened

Re: (breakneckvtec)
i would finish the 1/4 at the top of my 3rd gear. i would be just about pinging my rev limmiter(8800) on 205-50-15's with a gsr tranny.
so 8800 rpms with longer gearing and i could BARELY finish in third. i dont see you doing it with less rpms and shorter gears. but i guess if you really suck at driving it could be done

Re: (breakneckvtec)
you have an b16 has nothing to do with it neither do cams, only thing that matters is rev limiter and tranny gearing. i don't see why you would even want to stay in third gear the point is to get through your gear quickly hence why you mod you motor.
i understand about the shifting thing but bla i say no way in hell, but go prove us all wrong and see what happens

It isn't the dumbest, but it is in the ball park. I think the max speed per gear thing should have ended this question long ago, but oh well? he has ctr cams...

Sure, if you let off the gas at the 1000' mark, or just don't shift and peg the rev limiter down the track.
