Default throttle response once again

i'm continuing to hunt this throttle response problem with my b16. if you've read my past threads, there were many posts concerning throttle response.

anyway, i thought my stock catalytic converter was causing it, so today, i drilled and gutted it all out. still no luck, but just better rev speed. throttle is still bad around the 1000-2500 rpm. this gets annoying when i daily drive the car because throttle is not instant and it feels all squishy on the pedal. i have no CEL whatsoever. it's a stock b16aII and i have 2.25" piping all the way through.

would adjusting the idle screw make it better? is 3" intake piping too big? i'm stumped.

If you didn't have a CEL before, you will now with your hollow cat.

Check the throttle body itself. Sometimes the oil vapors from your valve cover will be sucked in and you will have sludge on the throttle plate. Carb cleaner works beautifully.

Also check your throttle cable. Maybe it's loose.

did you set the idle per the helms manual? turn everything off, disconnect the iavc plug, idle should drop to like 550rpm [pretty sure, but dont have my helms in front of me] + or - 50rpms . thats to set your base idle.

have you tried doing a maintance job on it. plugs, wires, rotor, cap? Fuel injector cleaner, fuel filter? I would avoid touching the idle screw if you dont have to.

hahahah you wait and see it will turn on every couple of days.

To turn it back off, reset the ECU by unplugging your battery for 10 minutes.

To turn it off permanently, go OBD1 ecu.

i tried messing with the IACV using eK9aT10pSi's method.

i warmed up my car, let it idle to around 700rpm, turned off the car, unplugged the IACV plug, turned on the car again, and the motor revved up to 4000rpm and dropped instantly and died. it was supposed to drop to around 550 rpm right? the only way i can make the motor steady and alive is to push on the pedal a little.

am i doing this right? this throttle response problem is !$#!@$#@ annoying...ever since i swapped it back in may 2004! the motor checked in at 215psi all across, new distributor from Distributor King, set at TDC and timed 16 deg, new oil change, and my throttle cable is tight as a *****. any help would be hot!

Have you tried using a stock intake and airbox at all?

CAIs tend to cause poor throttle response.

i have a short ram with K&N filter, and i've tried using NO intake also. both methods result the same response.
