I dont think that you will see much from that. Old Skools used these because they wanted better atomization of fuel. Remember, they used carbs.
I think that you will see better gains with an intake mani change.

I agree, worked on the old 4-bbl but has no real application on our cars.
It was done to move the carburetor further from the floor of the intake manifold, and to give a straighter shot at the valves.
You could increase the atomization on our cars by moving the injectors further upstream in the flow though.
Custom manifold would be the way to go there, although an experiment involving a spacer between the head and the stock manifold would be interesting...hmmmm...

I don't know what that will do because the injectors in our car are designed in a way to "shoot" right at the intake valve. Moving the injector up is going to throw the design off. I don't know in which way, but I bet it would have some affects.

Re: throttle body spacers? (Emerica)
The only reason the injectors are aimed that way is because the fuel atomizes when the fuel droplet hit the back of the hot valve.
Two ways you efficiently atomize:
1) Move the injectors up stream and aim them at the wall of the runner. I believe this will generate great power up high, but may cause puddling lower in the rev range.
2) Individual throttle boddies with the injector aimed at the mouth of the runner, before throttle plate
3) keep it stock, try to increase airflow. This is a fer sher solution, but everyone does this one. Meh...
Spacer will probably add 2 or 3 horsepower, but you will have to play with it. Added bonus of insulating the manifild from a heat source as well.

Yeah, maybe a little thicker though.
Like maybe half an inch to a full inch. Gonna have to modify those manifold studs though.
