throttle body spacer
I heard that these create better performance in bigger engines, like muscle cars and stuff.
But i never heard them for our rides... do you guys know anything about these for ours? Should I expect certain amount of HP if i get it? Will I not not notice the increase? I also read somewhere that it creates a bit more lower end power... what do you guys think?

Re: throttle body spacer (civicnation425)
On bigger muscle cars they act like velocity stacks which increases performance. Cold air intakes do something similar to this device and I wouldn't expect to notice much if any difference on a Honda. A larger Toyota truck might experience a difference but that's it.

I had to buy one of these spacers for my skunk2 IM as it was about 1" narrower than stock and moved the TB closer to driver side. I needed it for functionality, but the funny thing was it claimed that the spacer made +20hp. I think it was made by OBX or some junk.
What a joke!

the point of a tb spacer is utilized in carbuerated engines, giving the fuel and air mixture more time to atomize. hence a cleaner burn, giving an increase in hp/tq and gas mileage.
fuel injected engines have absolutely no use for the spacers. it is just snake oil...

While the air/fuel will have slightly more time to mix/atomize, the spacer adds volume to the intake manifold and height which acts a bit like a velocity stack, creating a bit of a ram effect in the intake which will increase torque and Hp respectively. The spacers that have the threaded grooves machined into them were designed to promote more swirl and better fuel atomization specifically. The ones without any grooves just add height and volume.
They definitely do work better for carburated cars or ones with throttle body fuel injection which is just a modified carb really.

Re: (00Red_SiR)
i knew a guy that had the swirl t-b space on his car but he said it help mix his nitrous wet shot better and on his dyno sheet it gave him an extra 10 horses in the mid range

Re: throttle body spacer (civicnation425)
I'm thinking about getting one for my boosted D-series. I hear it causes faster fuel induction and better fuel efficiency. Hopping to notice a power gain too.

It's not only for carbed engines. When I had my Jeep Cherokee 4x4, I installed a TB spacer for the 4.0 I-6. Definitely had a little more grunt and people on JeepsUnlimited had a few dynos with gains of 4-7whp.
