need to buy a throttle body and was just wondering if its possible to go too big? i would think it would just not be working to its fullest potential but i wasnt sure if it would hurt anything?

Re: throttle body help

It depends on what your going to do with the car, all motor, turbo, street car or straight drag?? If all motor what kind of intake will you be running? There are alot of things that can come into play if your really trying to squeeze everything you can out of a set-up. Especially an all-motor set-up!!

Are you planning to use the stock Skunk2 IM or are you planning to bore it out to match your throttle body? If you aren't going to bore it out at all (port match it to the throttle body) then get the same size throttle body and your done. It's all about keeping the velocity going through the intake, TB, IM and into the combustion chamber. So if you have a long 2.25" intake and a huge 3.5" throttle body and into your small intake manifold with small long runners you tend to loose velocity and volumetric efficiency and HP/TQ. Bottom line is try and plan ahead before you buy don't just buy something cause it's aftermarket, bigger isn't always better! LOL Make things match and work together you'll make more power that way and have a better running car overall!
