Default throtle body d16y7 question

ive had problems recently with a surging idle on my d16y7, i found this to be the valve that controls my idle located on the throtle body, i fixed this twice and it just broke again. so wat i did was i blocked off the controller completely with an flat piece of aluminum and gasket maker, now my idles really low when the cars cold and turns off until the water temps aboput 125. has anybody done this before and dealt with this in the winter?

I've heard of just unplugging the IACV but i thought you got a higher idle??? does the idle fluctuate, do you have any vacum leaks? I have to block off that port cause I have to switch a 2 wire IACV on the manifold cause of my OBD conversion. do you have any pictures? I'm just curious cause I'm gonna have to do that block off soon
