I assume that car has some goodies(DOHC engine, sc, turbo) under the hood for that price. If not, you're nutz!!
But, then again, their are tons of suckers out there..good luck in finding your victim.

you guys don't think a car can be worth more JUST because it is in excellent condition? It has to have some mods of jdm bs all over it?
Granted, that is a little steepish, but a good, clean, STOCK Si is ******* HARD TO FIND. Rarity costs $$. I guess you wouldn't know since this board loves CXs so much. Only place I know where people value a CX over an Si.

Sounds like a real shitty rip-off deal to me.
I sold my 1992 Si hatch for $5,000.00 and it was completely repainted Flamenco Black Pearl (ITR, 99-00 Civic Si black) and had a 60K D16Z6 in it, Tanabe Racing Medallion Exhaust ($600.00 mind you!), KYB/AGX struts, and Skunk2 coil-overs. I also threw in brand new 14'' H-rated tires and brand new 2000 civic DX steelies and wheel covers.
That car was 100% perfectly clean and everything worked and it ran flawless. Pulled 15.6 in the 1/4 mile with only an AEM intake.
And hell even that was a rip-off!
Oldskool Rex:
I don't think we value the CX higher here, in fact the reason we love them is BECAUSE they are dirt cheap. I'm sorry but $5,900.00 is very steep even with the mileage.
I don't feel bad ripping on the asking price because it's not the thread starter's car - looks as though he's just trying to pass along a "deal" on an Si hatch even though it's pretty damn pricey.

And then it got fucked again and again and again...
I think that he still has my old wheel covers on that car though.
Oh and my black2kcivic dx is also Flamenco Black Pearl.
I think that Graneda black ended at 98.
And I think that its a rip off too.

Yes, the Si should be a bit more expensive than the average price of a CX or VX, but not by $2400. I think a good price for a stock Si in excellent shape would be $4500 max.

Yeah I'm speaking from personal experience here about the whole CX vs. Si thing.
I would not be saying any of this had someone not opened up the can of worms labeled "this board for some reason values the CX hatch more than the Si hatch" but now I feel compelled to show my reasoning behind CX over Si.
1. Price. this thread is a prime example of why the CX owns.
2. Weight. Self explanatory
3. Insurance. It'c cheaper for the CX.
4. Stiffness. You can't tell me that a chassis with a big-*** hole in the roof will be as rigid as the solid chassis.
5. Handling. What? I'm crazy, right? Well with equal suspension the CX should handle better because the Si feels more top heavy because of the added weight of the roof in the worst place - the top. Aside from the very front, the highest point on the car is the last place you want extra weight.
That's enough for now. I know I've broekn it down in much more detail including prices and all, but in the end if you want an si for the roof and the extra "luxuries" that can be easily added to any non-Si chassis then by all means go for it.
Remember, I still have an Si hatch too and the only reason it hasn't been swapped for a CX body is because we (my fiancee' and I) don't care if the car is slow or not. It's our daily (besides my 1990 STD hatch ) and it has A/C, P/S, and cruise because it's supposed to be the comfy car. Plus I don't have the time to swap out the B16A in the Si and put in a stock D16Z6 and sell it like that, find another CX shell, etc.
Basically what I'm saying is that since I don't really care so much about all-out performance the Si is fine.

I didnt notice at first it was a 92'. I bought my 93si in 99 for 6K. Then crashed it. Out here in the midwest you dont see a ton of those like you do on the coasts. We dont all live in Cali.

Re: Thought you guys might want this. (B18C5-EH2)
Last time i checked the KBB value on my 93 si with 75k miles was right at 6k. I do realize it would be hard to get that for it. If you're going to sell it do it now cause in a few years i don't think there will be much of a demand for them with all the new cars coming out. Bottom line if you want 6k for it slap some bronze or black rims on it, put JDM in the title and wait for the money to come rolling in.

Re: Thought you guys might want this. (B18C5-EH2)
From my personal experiance I have had 4 92-95 Civic's. The first two I swapped the motors out for a B16. If you want the the power options why not just buy an Ex coupe? I just got this DX hatch and I am loving it already. It is so basic. Now I can just imagine how a CX must be.
1) 93 Civic EX Coupe---------Stolen
2) 92 Civic Si Hatchback-----Sold
3) 94 Civic EX Coupe---------Sold
4) 93 Civic DX Hatchback----Just bought

If you can demonstrate the loss of stiffness, I'm all ears. I'm not ******* on you or anything, just sharing my thoughts.

Re: Thought you guys might want this. (hondafreakc5)
I have a 94 Si that I bought 6 months ago for $3200. Mind you, it had 141k miles on it, and was not in perfect shape. I would have much prefered a CX if i knew what i have learned in the past couple of months at HT, but now that i want a CX i cant find one for ****. I finally found one, but I dont have the money (screw Christmas). CXs seem to be just as hard to find as Si's.

Thanks. My hatch has a perfect body, and a b18c1 for 400 less. That guy is smoking some really good ****. Granted that it did not come with the slips and a few other things but it still was a good deal.
