Those with Depo Fogs...Relay got Wet (95 EX)
before i begin, yes i've searched, and i couldnt find anything
OK so here's the story,
I was washing my car today, and i pop open my hood after washing it to wipe down the engine bay...i then notice a sizzling/hissing sound coming from near the intake, and i notice it's the relay to my depo foglights...for some reason, some water got into my engine bay and the relay got wet...
i tried to unclip the relay, but the relay was just too damn hot...i finally got the relay off, and set it aside to let dry...i then reconnect it to see if my fogs work, but it didnt light up...ive been trying to check if the fogs work, but it's just not working anymore
now i'm not all up into electrical stuff, so bare with me...
- is it possible that the relay is done with? when i connect it, i still hear that clicking sound when you press/de-press the foglight button, but the clicking is not as loud as it used to be
- could the wiring harness have shortened out that connects from the relay to the fogs?
i think those are the only questions i have for now...
have any of you ever experienced this? if so, what did you do to fix the problem?
i'd like to know your guys' input before i go on buying a new relay, wiring harness, or another new complete set of fogs
BTW, if any of you EG owners are selling your depo fogs, and would like to part out with the relay or wiring harness that connects to the foglights please pm me (only if i HAVE to get a new wiring harness or relay)
need help asap!

take a pic of the inside of the relay. the cover just pops off, you have to pry around the clips. if i see that, i'll be able to tell you what happened, what part of it died. chances are that the part of the relay that sends the power from the battery to the fogs burnt out, and the electro-magnet part is still ok, which is why it would still click. that or just get a new one
i don't get why it went bad, mine has gotten wet plenty of times

here's the pic of the inside...don't know if you can see anything
i can take a pic of it in any particular spot if you want me to...
but it does smell bad, and something does look like it's burned out or something

yea, that thing is gone...i can't see exactly what's wrong from those pics, but it's not fixable at all from what i see
on your next one, use some battery grease on the contacts, that'll reduce the chances of a short. also, mount it so the wires are on the bottom, so that water would have to travel up, which isn't likely

yeah, i guess i've learned my lesson, i had it mounted sideways, and i guess the water got in between the connector and the relay
i just hope my wiring harness isn't gone either
thanx a lot for the quick help TekSI...if i have anymore trouble, i'll hit you up
