Default Thinner Headgasket

What does raising the compression do to the powerband? Does it increase hp/tq over the entire band or do you sacrifice somewhere?

Also, if one were to do this, what kind of tuning would be needed, as in timing etc.

Thanks

don't expect more then 2-3whp from simple headgasket change, its not worth it unless you need to do it, save your money, and put it where it counts

but if you do the timing gets retarded (slightly)

I really don't agree w/ that method of raising/lowering compression...it will throw your timing off slightly as well.

It'll pretty much move the whole torque curve up across the whole band, by how much depends on the change in the CR; but im not sure about your method being good or bad.

yeah, dont change a gasket for the sake of just exchange..wait till u really need one then upgrade, ur throwing away good $$ if that the case

Lowering the compression increases power output over all ranges in any engine. Its simple thermodynamics. Buy a book on thermodynamics if you dont beleive me.

I dink your wrong. That doesn't exactly make sense and I don't have enough money for that book right now. How come when a mechanic gives an engine a going over and finds that a cylinder has a lower compression than the other cylinders, he isn't like, "Wow, this cylinder is working excellent and producing more power." Instead, low compression = something's wrong. Also, compression is NEEDED in an internal combustion engine. The only time I see fit for lowering compression is when boosting. BTW, I'm not smart so tell me if I'm wrong.
