Default Thinking of a new car, maybe a Civic?

Alright, right now I drive a 1997 Acura Integra RS, but it's getting high mileage and I want something a little newer.

I was shooting for the Evolution VIII earlier, but that's a little out of my price range currently and I think I'm just gonna wait for the IX down the road anyway. I want something now though to tide me over, and the new Civic EX Special Edition has started to really grow on me.

When I first saw it, it almost looked the new Si to me. I was thinking to get it either in Fiji Blue Pearl, Grey Metallic or the ever so classic Nighthawk Black Pearl (ITR color w00t!) in 5-Speed. My question is, what does everyone on H-T think about them? What K-series does it have under the hood? I think I'll go test drive one soon, but I wanna walk into the dealership with a little knowledge of the car under my belt. I don't think I'll do any modifications to it, but a FI setup with proper tuning (RevHard kit, I've read they've gotten great results with their kit on the K-23 EP3 Si) and exhaust system would be nice. Thanks in advance everyone!

d series = older civics, not the new ones.

The new EX, DX and LX have SOHC D17 motors. They're just not interchangeable with the previous D series motors. The Si and RSX have K series.

Solution: buy a used good condition shell, and use the money you saved for the swap

hes lookin for something newer.

since it seems you want some something kinda quick shintegra, why not look at other cars as well?

such as, the srt 4, GTi, Scion tC, RSX

the tC has be had for under 17grand and theres plenty of turbo kits readily available for it.

Srt-4 is under 22 grand, and im sure you're well aware of its features 220hp, 245tq, stock lsd.

You know what? I never even considered the tC. I've even sat in one but I forgot how in-expensive they were. Doesn't TRD offer a supercharger package? I don't think the RSX-S is in my price range either. The tC would be a pretty good trade-in in the future towards an Evolution IX.

If I had the funds, I'd be all over the RSX-S in a heartbeat. I've wanted to stay honda mainly because they retain their value so well that I would get a really good selling price or trade in later on. I'll check out tC though!

Those tc's are nice, they've been growing on me, i could definitly justify buying one. They're made by toyota so..... it's going to have the most reliable engine possible and probably a better trade in value than a honda would.

Is it equipped with VVT-i or whatever? Isn't that Toyota's new variable valve timing?

I need a summer job to pay have of the monthly payments. I was thinking of valeting during the summer.

An RSX-S would be really nice, same with the S2000. The S2000 wouldn't really be a good car for me mainly because I need 4 seats.

Yep, VVT-i is actually a superior version of vtec. I say go for the tc. I believe the supercharged ones run mid 14's.

Mid-14's? Really? That's quite impressive. They do have a lot of interior goods to boot, and the exterior design is nice.

i really doubt the tc will hold resale better than a honda, itll prolly hold more like a hyundai. and i think the "well equipped" price is around 16k not 14k. doubt that price would include a supercharger either. dont get an srt-4. they are neons. my buddy has one and has about 10 things go wrong with it already. its fast though, and has zero traction. for your price range look into a used tiburon gtv6. i bought a new 03 and was pretty impressed with the build quality. torquey motor too. supercharge that and its a rocket, but its heavy. personally i dont ever want to steer away from honda again (unless to get an evo). i have recieved so much joy from owning them.
