Default thinking of getting a 97 ex coupe with 108,000 miles..will it last?

I need a car that will still be kicking for 4 more years, is 108,000 miles too much to ask of the little EK? I am mainly wondering if the transmission will hold. It's automatic ( I know I know but this is just a work car.) The car is asking for $5500.,,,going to offer $5200.

sorry typo.

$5200 for a car with 180k miles is insane.

Or is it 108k? Sort of a difference there

With 108k, 4 years maybe. With 180k, 4 years probably not.

If its in good shape and you want it...go for it. If you take care of it, it'll last forever.

If the fame/body is fine then whats there to worry. You gonna hook it up right? Chances are your gonna replace the major parts, engine, brakes, wheels, etc. Get that price down though.

Remember it is a Honda.

on a honda you have 100,000 more miles to go on that no problem. Only ive never dealt with an auto tranny so im not sure how thats gonna hold up. But you could always get a manual swap

108k miles isn't all that much for a honda. my friend had a 94 civic with 290k miles and it was still kicking without any major problems. i say go for it. the price is a little high i think. i'd say $4.5-5k at the most.

I have 160k on my car and it runs GREAT...

As far as auto though... I'd STRONGLY recomend getting a FULL flush of the tranny fluid... NOT change the fluid FLUSH it.... there is a special machine that allows the tranny to shift through all the gears while it circulates fresh clean fluid in there...

if you just change the fluid you get like 20% of the dirty out and put in new clean fluid that just ends up mixing with the bad... usually causing more problems than preventing...

OH and that price is a little nuts... I'd offer 4-4.5k and move up SLOWLY from there...

5k for a car with 100k+ is just out of line... remember most people who are privately selling their cars is because the dealer already told them it's not worth what they want for a trade in... so they finance the new car and try to sell the old one for more than they were offered for the trade in.

EDIT... in all fairness I have NO idea what fair market value is on any honda... they're ALL over priced used imo.
