thinking Civic
I am currently driving a 97 mustang GT, but i cant afford the gas and insurance anymore so im making it into a track car and im thinking of buying this 95 Civic EX 5spd. i need ideas on what kinda modds to throw on it to make it faster, money is a lil tight so probably 2 grand would be my spending limit

2k and you can piece togather a turbo kit. Ls motor swap will get you in the low 15's. Other than that your gonna still be slow with that d-series.
Nitrous for cheap thrills.

Re: thinking Civic
I went from a 92 Lx with a 350 windsor motor to a civic and will never turn back. Trying to compare a 250hp v8 to a 140hp civic powerwise is hard to do. Your best bet if you love the power of the mustang is to throw on a turbo kit and get a good tune. You'd prob be around 2k if you got a good deal on the turbo kit, dont skimp on the tune. My boosted civic is probably faster than my 350 ever was, plus the weight difference always helps. You would probably spend more than 2k if you were trying to build a high compression n/a motor.

Re: thinking Civic
Anyways looks like you got a fast car already so why not just do a simple GSR swap and call it a day so you can keep the good Gas milage for a DD.

Re: thinking Civic
Well if you like torque..maybe a ls/vtec swap. But i would boost it...although there are JR supercharges you can get if you want to keep power consistent

Re: thinking Civic
Anyways with the new vette that bad boy seems to be giving a decent MPG these days since they incorporated that Active Fuel Management system like Cadallic did so many years ago.

this is true ^^^ you can turbo a D-series motor with a tune for A HELL OF A LOT cheaper than getting a motor swap (such as a b-series) then boosting. just simply boost with stock internals around 6 to 8 psi to be on the safe side (if motor is in good condition of course). its really easy to make 200hp in a d-series for a lot cheaper than swapping motors and boosting another one. keep the one you got. i'm telling you bro, you will not regret it. 200hp in a car weighing 2,400 lbs?? power to weight ratio baby, all i gotta say.

GSR THIS....GSR THAT.....no *** that!!!
turbo the the single cam...do a nice conservative street tune like ferio said and you will have over around/over 200whp and can beat the almighty GSR and alot more DOHC's just swapped in civics. all FOR CHEAP!!!!

Re: thinking Civic
Why dont you re-read the original post? Because im almost positive hes looking for a reliable daily with power. Not a may-or-may-not-blow-to-hell-on-the-highway turboed stock d, think before you post.

Re: thinking Civic
IMO either keep it stock with suspension and bolt ons, or GSR swap... with A/C and stereo. Done. You want your daily as reliable as possible with the least amount of headaches.
