thinking about trading but not sure about the problems on the other car
ok so i currently have a 1991 EF S.I. hatch in good condition some normal tiny little problems with it...
a guy with a 1993 civic coupe ex (ej1) with a mini-me swap in it... i dont really know much about egs... but heres the problems he told me it has...
rear main seal is leaking a TINY bit... how hard is that to fix???
2 of the bolts that bolt the tranny to the engine dont screw in all the way... he doesnt know why? what could that be from???
its got a cx tranny bolted to the mini me swap...
the engine is a d15b2 bottom end with a d16z6 head and he said that vtec cracks at 3500 cuz it has the wrong ecu (p70 instead of p28)... is that true??? or what could be wrong?
please help were planning on meating up in 2 days...
i know eg for an ef trade is a good deal but i need a reliabe car... i mean i deliver pizzas for a living... haha

Re: thinking about trading but not sure about the problems on the other car
Sounds like he half assed a lot of ****.
If you are mechanically inclined those issues are pretty minor, given it doesn't have any other underlying problems.
Rear main seal would require you to pull the tranny. But even noobs with basic mechanic experience could probably get that done in a day.
The reason the bolts don't tighten flush to the tranny is probably because he:
A) used some the wrong bolts (the bolts holding the tranny to the block are different lenghts
B) They could be cross threaded.
While you are in there you can replace the clutch and just do some basic maintenance work to the motor too.
I think the p70 is a ZC ECU. And unless it has been tampered with the ECU itself wouldn't be causing VTEC to engage that low.
I would just swap it out for a stock one, a p28 or have the p70 retuned to proper specs.
But its your call man. If the body is clean and you feel comfortable in your abilities I say go for it. Good luck!

Re: thinking about trading but not sure about the problems on the other car
ya thats what i thought about the tranny bolts... thank for the conformation about the lenths...
ya the car has a new exeddy stage 1 clutch (with recipes and pictures) and a lightened fly wheel so i wont be replacing thos... and ya i know know how to work on cars... i replace the rear main seal on a 350 chevy camaro so it could be too much harder i dont think... haha
but any ideas on what the compression would be on that motor?
cuz i plan on boosting it with the little kit i have (little tdo4h turbo)

yeah that main seal really isnt too big of a problem but i would definitely be worried about the bolts in the tranny. you really dont wanna half *** that and risk something happening.
and i still dont understand why people build up d series and try to get power out of them...
