I agree. ^
b18b with b16 tranny- would be a fun temporary setup, decent option for boost and an excellent option if you wanted to go all motor LS/Vtec
k20a- very awesome option, however pretty challenging swap and expensive as well.
b16a2- good fun out of the box, but i'd forsee you wanting a bit more, could be turbo'd though and be alot of fun.
rebuild d16 + boost- a good option price wise, alot of fun. but if your goal is greater than 300whp i would go b-series. not that it couldn't be done on a trusty D, but your options are alot greater once you make the switch.

oh yeah, also im from cali, so i cant add any turbos, only carb street legal turbos like edelbrok or greddy kits on the d16z6, and ls/vtecs are illegal.

the only swap i'd suggest for you is a swap in residence on the other side of the cali border.

Frankenstein it man, LS Bottom b16/gsr head, fun fast relatively cheap. It all depends on what you want man. Its your build make it your own and don't let anyone else make those decisions for you.
forcefedferio, i love the location, there are far too many potholes in this state, its very very frustrating.

You could always do an H22 with a b16 tranny?

Yup PennDot is just awesome. It could be worse, we could have the restrictions that cali has on cars.

oh wow. I voted D16Z6 + Boost because its an awesome setup. Built D's are fun as hell and sound good as hell too. But if your in Nazifornia then maybe a LS with a B16 Tranny is better. Although I would say GSR tranny instead of B16. Since B16 Tranny's tend to keep RPM's high and LS powerband is low and midrange and not up high. Idk how far you can go with boost in Cali if its even legal or not. If you can do boost and its not limited to a certain PSI or w/e then go with Z6. Otherwise LS + GSR. Since LSVTEC and B20VTEC are Illegal there too.

6th gear doesnt matter. I was just on my way to school and I ripped a new Si on the Turnpike, on my DX tranny. I did a 3rd and 4th gear pull, 70-125 then i let off because I dont like to go that fast. I pulled on him the whole time. 2 car lengths at minimum and he was in front of me when I hit it. Boosted D FTW.

go b18ci (GSR) good bang for buck and can get reffd i live in cali to if on a budget then the LS is good i ran one with a GSR tranny it was fun but soon you will want to be faster and like you said you live in CALI so no LS/V so gsr my vote

GSR is expencive though. And in Cali you really gotta worry about who you buy from since alot of **** is stolen. For 3k i don't think its worth it for 180HP.

if you shop around you can find one for less but b16 is cheaper and if you going for speed you would have to do some building to a single and boost it i had a friend boost a stock single cam and i smashed him wit my stock LS you know we only got limited option livin in cali and a carb legal turbo is expensive to

i know california is sooo gay for having these rules, i even heard you cant put h22 on a civic/integra, but u CAN put h22 on accords. is that true? also b20 are suv engines, cant swap those either..... but yeah i am leaning towards ls with b16 tranny N/A, and for d16z6 boosted.... i heard in ca that u can only run it at 5 psi or something with a carb kit.
