Think I got ripped on a skunk2 shifter~! help
Ok, anyone with a skunk2 shifter please look. I just bought this off a guy on parts trader. He said its a new skunk2 short shifter that has never been used. I got the shifter and **** for 125. However, just trying to play around, i cant even get the shift **** to fit the shifter. I dont know what the hell the problem is. It gets like 1.5 turns then stops. Also on the threads of the shifter the paint or whatever is coming off and it almost looks like copper colored underneath. I think i got ripped. However it does have sealed bearings which imitations normally dont have, and the shift **** seems legit. Here are some pics however crappy they may be.

Just before anyone that actually knows the answers replies; I thought I read some posts awhile back about the 'new' Skunk2 shifters/***** not threading and people having to re-thread or return them?
Worse comes to worse you can always tap/die and make it work...

Don't worry about the badge, it's just a sticker. The first thing I did with mine was take the sticker off. The shifter does look real, although it's hard to tell in those horrible pictures.

that is a skunk shifter and ****.
Skunk messed up on the design of the shifter and the paint is too thick on the threads keeping a metal **** from screwing on.
Take a dremel with a wire brush tool or just a stiff wire brush and scrape the paint off the threads.
Then put a couple of drops of oil in the shiftknob when you screw it on.
Then unscrew/screw it a few times. Then clean the inside of the shiftknob with brake cleaner or compressed air.
you should be golden then.
I highly doubt that companies would make knock off skunk products.
