i have a motor that was hydro locked it snapped a rod in 2 and punched holes out of each side of the block, some junk got stuck in the head and bent 2 valves also!
so this can be worse then it looks, but let´s hope for the best

at least you've got another block coming soon... good luck
remember if you're just driving to work, there's no need for a cai, switch to short ram in the winter....

Re: (mike93eh)
this might sound like a newbie ? but how does hydrolocking the motor **** it up. what does the water do when it enters the combustion chamber. and why would the water make the rod snap if the rod never touches the water

doesnt take much, i found out the hard way on XMAS day
sorry to hear, i was in a similiar situation, but after letting her dry up for a few days she started up, no visible damage, and had a compression of 190 across the board.
as for the valves, who knows. but since you are obvioulsy going to be replacing the block, then theres your chance to inspect the head for damage. good luck

The problem is that water does not compress. So when a cylinder sucks up a bunch of water and gets pushed up by the piston, and reaches the point where the volume of the water in the cylinder exceeds the volume of the combustion chamber, and the piston is still going up, something's gotta give. Usually its the rods first, and then whatever gets nailed by the busted rod, and other flailing bits.

water man not be compressed. u never hear of compressed water, but air on the other hand can be compressed (combustion). pretty much ur rotating assembly comes to a stop so fast . . . its scary to imagine.
edit: i didnt know someone posted it already. my bad.
