Default Think i am ready for some nitrous...

Well i have been loosing sleep the last couple months on what to do as whether to go all motor or forced induction. Well i decided to go Forced induction i will be putting togather a turbo setup for myself, but in the mean time i wanna use wet nitrous setup. Do you guys think my setup is solid enough to run atleast a 75shot. I feel its pretty solid i would just like your inputs.

I will be there soon enough, figure if the motor handles the nitrous it will handle the turbo i throw at it.

Thats almost 900 Bucks if your doing the installation yourself your halfway to a turbo kit.

Go for it Mike You know I'd rather see ya boost it, but if you feel that that nitrous is the most cost effective setup for YOU then dont let anyone stop ya.

all you have is bolt on's???? and some fuel parts? id do somthing to beef up the parts that are gonna need beefing up in the future anyways...like the head build the head fairly strong, valves, springs, retainers, cams, gears, head gasket then run nitrouse until your ready to go turbo or both your gonna need it anyways so do it now nitrouse is just a cheap thrill because you want speed now and dont want to do it right and take your time in my honest opinion

think about nos, you can only use it when the bottle is full, and for short durations. Turbo, you can do it all the time, high speed runs and whatever. Turbo is a lot more reliable in my opinion, and nos is probably gonna eat away at your motor faster.

I will eventually add the turbo, as for the bottom end and head i will slowly save up for that. When i go turbo i have to get it right the first time ex. sleeved block, forged pistons, rods. All those cost more money that i don't have at the moment so i am hoping running a little nitrous will suffice for the summer. Also pretty much i will use everthing i already have on the turbo except the comp-tech header. Thanks for the replies.

you can't judge which one eats away at a motor faster. Anything you do to a motor is going to eat away it at it faster than it would deteriorate stock. Nitrous, when done correctly, could last a lifetime, likewise for a blower. At the same time, incorrectly, they'll all kill the motor in a heartbeat.

I would base the decision on what you have planned for the motor.

Keeping near stock for daily driving, and fun occasionally or rarely?

go nitrous

want power all the time or majority of the time?

blower with boost control

as far as the question of a 75 shot, stock internals will hold up fine as long as the fuel pressure is bumped up and followed with colder spark plugs. Using the ignition to retard timing while spraying is not a bad idea either.

the way i look at it is...75 hp increase in anyway of form is gonna kill your engine that fast. hehe

NOw that i think about it...nos might less stress than turbo...turbo forces air into the chamber, making stress on every moving part (seals) and extra heat. But for nos, it uses chemistry- extra oxygen for better explosion and more oxygen per volume from N2. I guess the real thing that really kills your car from nos is the excess amout, same as boosting i suppose. Damn, im just blabbin now

BTW, whats the fine/charge for using nos on public roadways?

You dont have to get the purge or the gauges. And why would you need a new fuel filter?
So all you need is the kit.
The bottle warmer is a good idea (especially with a wet kit), but not completely necessary.
He's already got a fuel pump.

The cost of fill-ups is going to depend on how much you will use it. The two kinds of people who I see filling their bottle every single week are either the ones running a HUGE shot(which 75 shot is not) or the stunna kids who run a 50 on their stock accord, but use the nitrous all the time. Usually because their cars a so damn slow without it.

It always makes me laugh when I hear people complaining about always having to refill the bottle. We all drive gasoline powered vehicles which require constant refilling. ****, maybe we should all go out and buy solar powered cars.
People bitch about purchasing nitrous for $3/pound, but they have no problem paying $4-$5 a gallon for race gas.
