Default things needed for VTEC-E engine swap into 1997 LX

where do i get the info on what is needed to put a VTEC-E motor into a 1997 LX non vtec 5spd civic. all threads i have read are geared towards putting a faster/larger motor in, i have yet to find one that covers putting the HX VTEC-E motor in to a non vtec civic.

I am currently having some motor problems (see previous thread) and if i end up changing the motor out that is what i intend to use if it is possible. I plan on doing it in the future anyway and would like to know what all I would need to do this swap especially in regards to:

will the transmission work or should i get the specific one that goes with a vtec e, also the harness is it compatible? which computer? and vtece solenoid wiring that would be needed as well as any thing else i may have missed. thanks.

ps if there is a a thread dedicated to this already please be kind and post a link, i did search for it and have found nothing that answers but that could be operator error on my part, i am new to forums.. any help will greatly appreciated.

need more info on the car you are swapping it in. is it an auto or 5 spd. everything should bolt right in u will need the ecu and harness for the hx as it will have a egr valve that no other civic has and if auto it has a cvt trans which will difficult to swap over. this swap will be easiest if its a 5 spd. why not just get a y8 it will be simpler and there is no benefit with this eco motor.

You can keep the original transmission, but a lot of why the HX got the mileage it did was due to the transmission. Also get the ECU and O2 sensor (it's a wideband and very expensive) If you can get an actual HX engine harness that will make life a lot easier. Other than the engine harness it's basically a simple matter of removing one engine and installing the other, all the mounting points, shift linkage etc are identical.
