I'm picking up this Sol Si for my Midori, and it has nightshaded oem's. Really, on the del, I don't even like the OEM's, I like these 99-00 wannabe's, but they have "multi dimension" and are too clear. I can probably paint the red a less clear red, like OEM. But what kind of paint would I need, to still be clear enough to see through, but hide the ricer **** in the insde.
Just imagine these with solid red on a black Sol.

I hate the Sol OEM lights...actually front and rear. I'd like a 99-00 swap on the Sol, as I have on the Midori. I may see if the one im trading will swap fronts(unlikely).
A Midori EK with a Sol front....
Nah, I have my reasons for getting rid of the EK. Namely lack of power options, and the cost of converting. Sol Si has it all, and rear discs. Unlike most of h-t, I appreciate these comforts, even at the expense of .2 at the 1/4 track. No CX, or DX here!

Re: (Slamaccord)
I just finished painting mine. I kept my OEM tailights... I haven't tested them yet with the four coats but they were fine after two coats of paint. I could still see the orange underneath in the daylight. Plus two coats of clear. I used Testors paint. The model car stuff... It's works real well. Transparent Candy Apple red. It's like 3$ a can at a hobby store. You can get by on two coats per can... And get one of those 3$ handle things that you can attach to the can and spray with. It helps you coat a LOT easier!
Sorry, I still got some of the masking tape on and I really should wet sand them and add another two coats of clear...

Re: (bryphotoguy)
I imagine that the circles will still be present at night. But during the day(most important) they will look like "OEM" red/clears, if they had made them. And also, OEM's aren't clear.
Also, I will paint from the inside, not the outside. Seems like it'd cut down some labor, like sanding, and clearing.
I also heard that you remove nightshade. If you can do it CLEANLY, I'll keep the OEM's.

Re: (ThatEKhatch)
possibly. I dunno about getting those things apart though. I know you can bake them and such but how you plan on putting them back together?? everyone complains their aftermarket tailights leak in air and water and fog them. i dunno if the crappy seals will hold a second heating...
but sanding is always a good thing to make sure its on even. id look pretty lame if part of your tailights are brighter than the other.
good luck though!
