Default Thermostat Issue?

I have a 93 Civic with a Gsr swap , Latley the car will only heat up to operating temp when at idle for a little. As soon as I take off and start driving it stays down at the cold mark. . Does this sound like a thermostat? It used to never do anything like that.

Thanks

sounds like the thermostat is stuck open to me. i had the same issue with my car when i bought it. changed the thermostat and gasket with OEM parts and it works perfectly now. you should actually switch it out quick. if you have a hot engine and run cold water through it you can crack the block.

Where should the needle be at on the temperature gauge? Can a brand new oem thermostat(100mi) be stuck? My car does that too. When I drive, it drops down but when I come to a stop or let the car sits, it's fine. I bled the system twice with fan turning on twice.

Bump for the OP. In for some answers too.

The needle should sit around 1/3 up the gauge at operating tempurature. And to the OP, definitely sounds like a thermostat to me.
