Default thermostat????

just bought the car to save on gas, 95 del sol, d15. when driving the temps are normal, not overheating, when it gets to operating temperature at idle, the tach goes up an down between 1500-2500rpm. when i turn it off it is blowing air into the coolant reservoir. the car has had a head gasket chnge, I have burped the radiator, i dont blow any white smoke nor do i have oil in the coolant r milky oil, so im assuming the possibility of a bad head gasket is out, but im not familiar with honda motors, so any input is appreciated.

Sounds like a head/head gasket problem, but you can also check whether the radiator cap is unable to hold proper pressure.

the idle is part of the problem, im sure that whatever the issue is, it is something that was an issue before I picked the car up a few days ago, but the past 2 days of driving i havent come upon any issues except when i stopped before the idle would go up slightly, hold, then come back down. now the goes up and down at a stand still, and my main concern was when I turned the car off it sounded like a kid blowing bubbles in his chocolate milk, just in my coolant reservoir which is why im confused as to whether its a head gasket issue

cheek to see if you have air in the system open the bleeder on the thermostat houseing you can do a compression check on the head to see if it looses compression soom times you wont have oil in the coolant and it stell can be a blown head gaskit

Well, do the test with the motor at operating temp. And while cranking it over, hold down the gas pedal @ WOT.

The numbers might look to be in the 170-200 range...but the main thing is consistant numbers. A reading over 10% lower than the next lowest # isn't good.

I'm guessing you mean what psi should each chamber be? Normal should be ~ 180psi give or take

speaking of the compression test, my friend and i are doing it, he has the tester, he says that we need to take out more than just the fuse for the injectors , stating something about coils or coil packs, hes fairly knowledgable so I didn't want to just write his opinion off.

the a/c doesnt have a belt running to it, there is a leak coming from my water pump, and the thermostat isnt opening, so i ordered a new water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and thermostat last night, i'll knock all that out. next step is de-ricing it, gonna be spending alot of time in the marketplace
