is there a diff between a SOHC catalytic and a DOHC cat?
so yeah, as the title states, is there a differnce between the two?? in size i think theyre both the same, but im asking that because i tried to ref my car and i had a SOHC cat on there and i have a B-series motor, a B18b1 to be exact, and it failed the smog portion of the test, would a CAT meant for the LS make emissions better?? also is a bosch o2 sensor not better than a NTK(made by NGK)

A cat's a cat. But if its a bad cat then its not going to help you. What were your readings?

Re: is there a diff between a SOHC catalytic and a DOHC cat? (Luserkid)
these were my readings:
CO2= 13.6(15mph) and 12.9(25mph)
O2= 1.9(15mph) and 1.4(25mph)
HC= 43(15mph) and 90(25mph)
CO= .05(15mph) and 1.70(25mph)
NO= 1905(15mph) and 1504(25mph)
i was told by a honda mechanic that there's a diff between cats, but im not too sure...

Did they mark you as a gross polluter? Was the car warm or cold? Looks like your running rich also. Do a tune up and get a new cat.
The difference between the 2 is the lenght, but what it does is the same.

no, not a gross polluter, car was warm, i am about a 45 minute drive from the ref station so i drove it enough for the cat to be hot enough....i did do a tune up, i know the size is different, but how can they be the same? i mean, a dual cam motor will put out more emissions than a single cam, wont it?
also how would i make it run not rich? map sensor? i have a stock ecu....would valve adjustment fix this too? or at least make it better?..... help please

the difference between civic sohc, or integra dohc cats are just a slight different in length and shape, they all have a 2" ID and the same exact internal ceramic catalyst

so do you think that the cat i was using might have been bad?? it was a OEM honda cat off the hatch, so im guessing its more than 10 years old... i have a brand new cat, and i bought it for an LS, and it looks identical to that of a single cam, size and all, not too sure about length, but thats not an issue.....

yeah i did a full tune up already, oil, plugs, cap and rotor, wires, pcv valve, and i just chnaged in a new map sensor, when i went to ref i had a bosch o2 sensor, and the ref told me that those are crap, so now i have an NTK(made byNGK) o2 sensor brand new, i also have the brand new cat, so i might as well throw it in there, can you take a loook at my sniffer readings and tell me what you think i should do?? thanks, all the help is greatly appreciated!
