Theoretical about rear mounted motors.
I've been sitting around thinking about how in the world you would go about manufacturing shift linkage for a rear mounted motor.
How does the shiftlinkage work in the NSX, is it cable?
Humm, what about that top fuel del sol, I wonder how they did it.
This isn't some newb retarded Idea, I work at a shop that is completly capable of putting a motor in the rear of a car, if we really wanted to. But I'm just having trouble picturing shift linkage in my mind.
The only reason I ask is because i bought a rolling del sol chassis for $20 and i'm trying to decide what to do with it.

Re: Theoretical about rear mounted motors. (Plan B)
here is one way you could do the shift linkages. Of course, you would have to measure distances and ****, but this is a generic way of doing it. I'm sure you could do it w/ a cable, but you would have to find a material that is not easy to deform but can bend. You would also need a pulley.
EDIT: the white circles are pivot points

you talking about MR or MF? if it's mid-engine, front wheel drive I guess you'd have to use a driveshaft from the transmission hooking into a transfer differential between the front, one-piece axle. Kinda like a FR car in reverse. I see no reason why the shift linkage wouldn't be identicle to something found in, say, an MR2 or the NSX. Don't quote me on that, though

see if you can find out how the Lotus Elise is done when using the B18C5 ITR powerplant. that may answer your questions, may not.
great, now I gotta think about this too! DRATS!
