Of course you can do it yourself. But how much hands-on experience do you have? It's not hard, but it's a pain in the *** to get to.

$150 for install is too much in my opinion, but then again, I know how to do it myself. If you find you can't install it on your own, try asking a buddy to help for cheaper than $150.

Nice

An alternator install is something perfect to get you started working on your own modifications. Not too hard, but not terribly easy. And it's good, because it's hard to really ruin anything.

Once you get it, or even before you get it, jack up the car real high, put some good jackstands down, and take a look up at the alternator from underneath the car. You do know where it is, right?

Just look and you'll see how it comes out. Might have to move a few things out of the way.

Good luck.

DIY. You'll gain patience because it's a PIA to get out and put in, but nothing that a professional needs to do. $150 is STEEP.
