Default Texas peeps,B16a1(1st gen) in 92 civic hatch

really for TEXAS peeps. i dont know the smog regulations here or if we even have any. ive been told your not supposed to but an older engine in a newer car. i would like to get the B16a1 becuz thats probably the only one i can afford, if im to put one in this summer. how do they check smog anyway. please tell me i can do this swap by the way its a 92 cx hatch. would the wiring be hard

my friends have...who really cares, cops here dont crack down as much as cali cops on smog...flat black your exhaust with high temp rattle paint and you will never be bothered.

Problem is that your car is OBD1 the motor is OBD 0......

your engine harness won't match up....and in order to change it to OBD1 you'll have to replace to much where it will offset the price to the same as a B16a2....

Tranny is the other issue....b16a1 uses cable, your car is hydro....the cost of a hydro tranny will be greater than the cable....making the price about the same as a b16a2.....

Both swaps will cost about the same but one will be more trouble with parts left over......just my 2 cents...

In the end they will cost you the same, if not more to do the b16a1. More headaches with the b16a1

i thought the whole problem with the motor being older than the car was more for registration purposes...am i wrong on that??....wouldnt be the first time.....
