testing vtec solenoid
how do you test the vtec solenoid?
thought i remember seeing on here somewhere an easy way to test it.. i have a 96 civic with stock d16y8

my guess would be to ground it and then using a spare 12 volt batery , apply 12 volds to the lead wire and see if it clicks open. everytime i hit vtec i can hear my solinoid open and close, don't know if thatis good or bad, but you just need to take it off and bench test it to see if it opens and stays open.

if the solenoid clicks, its good

also make sure car is heated to normal operating temprature.
