Default Testing a TPS.. stupid question alert

How do you do it? I searched but I don't have much experience testing sensors. Do I just take the red lead from the voltmeter and pop that against the red wire and then ground the black wire? I was trying all that but i got no power whatsoever.

What do I need to do to get a reading? I turned the car to the 'on' position and turned on the voltmeter to read dc power, but I got no signal.

Just take the red testprobe to the red wire on the TPS outlet and ground the black lead to the battery?

Weird.. I know i'm dumb but someone please help me.

I saw that one...

but I missed this very important line...

First, cut a small window on the insulation of the middle wire at the TPS.

I've been trying to stick in in the wire port there thinking I could get a signal w/o splicing a wire but that didn't work.. that line is the obvious one I'm missing.. durrr

thanks man

depends on what kind of probes you have on your meter... with some of the smaller ones you can go in through the back of the plug....

my probes were sharp at the end so i pierced the wire and then covered it back up with the insulation that was on it.. test the green and the middle.. mine were GRN, RED/BLU, and RED so i had to figure that out myself
