testing for a blown head gasket?
ok, i'm looking at a buying a used car and want to make sure the head gasket isn't blown or leaking. i can't really compression test it, but if i did the following, would that be fairly conclusive?
1.check for white residue on the bottom of oil cap and on the oil dip stick.
2.check for oil in the radiator and overflow bottle.
3.take radiator cap off and rev engine and see if coolent shoots out.
4.drive it and have a friend follow me and check for smoke from exhaust.
5.drive it for a while and see if it overheats.
