Terminology help
Hey guys, I've been browsing the boards at least 4-5 times a day...and I've come along terms that I am confused with and was wondering if you could help me out with them. Here's what I need help with:
a)OEM
b)JDM
c)OBDI and OBDII
THose are pretty much the terms I always come across and don't understand....also can someone explain popping the clutch to me.....I've tried to ask my dad but he doesn't know. Thanks for the help. If I find anything else I'll post it.

JDM= Japanese Domestic Market
OBD= On Board Diagnostics ( I believe 1996+ cars are OBD II equipped)

Re: Terminology help (RK)
So far, so good.
I'll add:
Pre-OBD was a certain type of wiring and ECU plugs in Hondas/Acuras from 1988-1991.
OBDI - from 1992-1995
OBDII - 1996-present.
OBD, OBDII asre used to describe the motors for swaps. If you have a OBDI car, it's easier to swap in an OBDI motor, same for OBDII car and motor. There are jumper harnesses that allow mixing of the OBDs, but that might be confusing right now to you.

Re: Terminology help (B18C5-EH2)
Alirght thanks alot.....I guessed OEM correctly...but I wasn't sure if I was definetly correct. As for the OBD motors.....is there a difference between them in terms of performance and power? Which is better. Also any info on popping the clutch, and what is idling?

Re: Terminology help (MrPimpon)
OBD-I basically monitors the engine sensors for gross malfunction, as well as opens & shorts...there are a few other things, but primarily it was a system that wasn't to concerned with emmisions....lenient if you will.
OBD-II on the other hand is quite stringent with respect to its emmsion standards, as its what it was primarily designed to address....emmisions output. This is also a primary reason why people swap over to OBD-I.
