temp oil plug
well i just purchased a 92 civic hatch d15b7 a couple of days ago.
it has 230000 miles on it but still runs decent with a slightly rough idle. (can you say swap?)
the other day i was checking out the under side of the car when i noticed what looked like a temp oil plug... (a flat looking plug with a tab on it.)this made sense because the day before i was wondering why there was an oil plug in the glove box. i dont know much about the plugs, but im guessing the pan was stripped so they put in a temp? the plug that was in the glove box isnt stipped at all so im guessing thats what the problem was.
basically what im getting to is: is it possible to re-tap the pan or will it be better to just replace it? (i've replaced them before so thats no problem)
any help would be appreciated.
ps... heres some pics of the bone stock teal hatch

Much better in the long run of the car to just replace, you can find used ones dirt cheap at any junkyard or even the HT marketplace.
I wouldnt put a whole lot of money into the motor if your going to just swap it, unless that is the motor runs good, and your not swapping for a good deal of time.

Re: temp oil plug (97Ej6mike)
thanks for the input
the swap isnt going to happen for another couple of months. i still have to do some homework on the subject and decide what motor im going to go for. probably the ever so popular b-series. i know this forum has plenty of information, so i better get to reading.
as far as the oil pan goes, i'll probably head to the junk yard or see what kind of deal i can get through my job for an oil pan.
