temp gauge stuck cold after tranny install
Installed a new tranny today and we drained the coolant. After we got done we filled it back up, but now the temp gauge wont work and stays at cold. Is there something wrong with the thermostat? We didn't even touch that.

make sure you have all of the air out of it.
put the front end in the air, run it with the rad cap off and make sure all the air out. run it with the heat on and when the fan kicks on cap it.

Yeah i ran it for a while and let the car run with the heat all the way up and the radiator cap off. I'll try it again in the morning and maybe it will cure itself?

Ok I flushed and refilled the coolant today and even took off the thermostat and put it back in and the temp gauge still isn't working. I also tried out my old cluster and the temp gauge still doesnt go up.

How about the coolant temp sensor right there by the thermostat housing? It may have been unplugged? Also to help bleed air when you fill the radiator, you can loosen an air bleeder nut just above where the top radiator hose comes off the head.

I have a feeling it might just be that sensor by the thermostat housing. it has been plugged in all the time, but I'll check the wires for current.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll check everything we took out or could have unplugged tomorrow.
