Default Temp. gauge on my cluster jumps sparatically

Temp. gauge on my cluster jumps from norm operating temp to "H". It will then go back down, I can't figure anything that could cause it to just change the way it does.

Could be a faulty connection/ground.

Unless it isn't really a jump and it is a smooth transition to H and then back down.
If it is the later then I would assume that your water pump is on it's way out.
