temp gauge
Recently after replacing my top Rad hose after it blew my car heat gauge been going from normal temp to in the red (hot) and also my heat sometimes.blows cold even though the car is fully warmed up.
So I decided to try to bleed it.
What's the proper way? Does the car have to be fully cold or do I just have to have the Rad cap off? I tried bleeding it this morning in 38 degree weather and I added about 20 FL oz of fluid before starting the car but after that no coolant was sucked in.
I tryed wwaiting for the fan to kick on but after 20 min the temp gauge just remained in the middle where it usually sits.
so what am.I doing wrong here?

Re: temp gauge
The hose broke since it was original from 99.
I will try to rebleed it when I change my oil and brakes this weekend.
Also is there a gasket behind the top Rad.hose port? It is.leaking a bit.

Re: temp gauge
You can remove the water neck from the head, scrap any gasket off, and apply honda-bond (or high temp RTV) to make a gasket.
Remove cap, turn on vehicle, turn on heat inside vehicle. Wait until fans cycle on at least once and you should have zero problems. Might take a awhile though.

Sounds good thanks. One last thing. I got new plugs to install too and they sold me resistor style plugs. They are ngk v power resistor. Are these alright to use? What's resistor mean?

i live in the tropics and had an overheating prob. but it was due to a bad thermostat. i ripped dat sucker out. lets see... maybe the sensor is bad or it cud simply be a wire going to the sensor with a break.

Re: temp gauge
Keep idling. Did the lower hose get hot? If so, the Tstat opened and you should be fine from this point on if you allowed heat to run in the car to bleed any air in the heater core.

Re: temp gauge
Alright so I drove the car for a little and all was fine.
Now the car keeps creeping into the red zone.
I've noticed 2 things.
1 if I keep the heat oon the car stays in between hot and cold
2 the Rad fan never comes on
So should I replace.the thermostat and the fan?

Re: temp gauge
Jump t fan switch connector to see if your fan works. If it does test continuity between your fan switch terminals. Should have continuity in a closed switch. Also u can do an ohm readings if u have t specs. Good luck!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALSO what causes my heat to blow hot then cold then hot then cold even though the car car is fully warmed up? its like im hitting cold spots?

Just installed a new Tstat and a new fan switch... still having the fan wont turn on problem.....
I jumped the connector and the fan turned on.... so shouldnt the switch of fixed that? What else should I check for on the fan?

Re: temp gauge
Does the gauge in the cluster signify you are overheating while these fans are not coming on? If the fan switch is jumped and the fans kick on, there is nothing else to blame except the switch since you are bypassing it. The fans turning on means there are no problems with the wiring, or the relay IMO.

Re: temp gauge
Could be faulty gauge or faulty temp sender sensor. Test actual engine temp first and compare.
If all checks out fine. Couldn't be low on coolant, blockage in coolig system such as radiator, hoses heater core etc.
