Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
The bigger the better. If I had the space I’d hang a 4x8 sheet of it on a wall and do the whole thing there. When it’s on a wall you can just leave it up, out of the way, while you work on it. Alternatively, using the self adhesive zip tie blocks from Home Depot/etc on your workbench is nice too. Measure out based on your diagram and set one for each junction, then zip tie your branches down until you are ready to sheath the whole thing.
Also, planning and documentation is everything. When I am ready to order stuff, I will know exactly how many feet of each size/color of wire, how many terminals/shells, exactly where each junction lives, and I will have a detailed pin-to pin diagram of the finished loom for me or anyone else to use down the road to troubleshoot. No guessing, no trying to remember where that one crimp might be or which ground a particular component is using:
This is just for ECU connector A:
and the connector BoM as of right now:
P.S. if anyone knows the Sumitomo part number for the 3-pin TPS/MAP connector shells, I'm having trouble finding it

Thanks. It takes all of the guesswork and fiddling out of the equation. Then I can take it and lay it over a different engine to check my work or adjust for a different manifold or something (example, ect needs to be a little bit longer for a B16 head than it does for a P75/P8R head). Then I can measure out each of the branches, make a diagram, and lay that out on the pegboard.
Debating if I’m going to use the distribution connectors at all on this loom. They’ve been a failure point for me on the current one. I may just do internal crimps wherever I need to branch a power or ground.

I find its better to use a big piece of cardboard with pipe cleaner loops or bread loaf twisties to mock up the dimensions for wires.
Although technically of you just make your measurements and make a map to quickly reference you dont need to use a peg board as a live to scale mock up

Depends. I'm using open barrel crimp splices for this one. They are cheap and reliable and easy to get. Buy a fistful of each of these three sizes and you'll have all you need. You have to calculate the combined CMA of the wires you are joining to make sure you are using the right size:
For crimping these I have a Sargent 3187 that I've had for a few years that does the trick, if you don't want to spend the money you can find them on eBay from time to time in great condition for not a lot of money:
or there is a pretty good clone of them in this master toolset on Amazon that gets you everything you need to do Deutsch connectors, etc:
That kit is seriously nice for the money, if I didn't already own a DMC crimper and turrets I'd spring for it.
And get yourself a good one-handed stripper tool. Worth every last penny. You NEED it. Ideal StripMaster 45-097 does all the wire sizes you'll encounter.

I’ve used a ton of those wire splices over the years though, they are fine. My dad used to bring home bags of them from the phone company when I was a kid and I would use them on all kinds of stuff. But if it moves and/or is critical I’m all about solderless. Not worth pulling apart a loom because of a broken joint.

Does the Sp in spadam stand for spammer? Lol jk
Those open barrel splices are almost exactly what I ordered from mouser, and those crimping pliers are what I have.
I’ll see if I can find the map sensor connector. It seems like I just saw them on a website the other day.
I have not used those heat shrink solder things. Doesn’t feel right. Lol
Where do you get shielded wire? I’ve ordered mine from Steinair.

JEEEESUS, Adam! That's impressive. I hate wiring. I might actually hit you up in PMs about something that's been bugging me.
Anyway I did absolutely nothing technical to my hatch, but I did shine that bitch up and take it to a badass local meet/show.
"You're a car show guy?"
Yes and no. I'm mostly a "show car" guy because my son loves to go, and it's a great way to spend an entire day with him and no electronics, etc. I like seeing other cars, and honestly I like getting my hatch out so people can see that not all old Hondas are dumpsters. I go to domestic-dominated and even euro-dominated meets, and it's almost like doing The Lord's work when they see the hatch and admit "I HATE Hondas, but this one is really nice" etc. So yeah spent the day at a huge meet with super high quality cars, and here's a few snaps - I didn't take a ton because I try not to have my phone out at shows and be looking down more than taking in the cars and the people around me.
All pics taken with my phone haha!
...and amongst a ton of badass cars my hatch somehow took home a "trophy" for Top Ten at the show. I'm not bragging about winning a trophy so much as I wanted to share what the trophy looked like:

Nice pics! The car scene in my area is pretty weak but I've went to a couple of local shows this summer with my son for similar reasons. He likes them and we are going to build a car together so it keeps his enthusiasm up.

Cool pics. Your car needed that trophy.

...and the white wagon belongs to a buddy of mine. That thing is SICK. Rotrex supercharged LS engine with Crower 403 cams, and ITR-spec pistons. It lays down more peak whp than my K20A2 on 13psi with the roots blower!

Lol yeah all that and got that gangsta coke bottle. I like to see stuff like that because it reminds me that there’s hope for turds like me.

We have a lifted miata around my area, not done as well as that one but it's still funny to see.

Getting the interior out and putting new sound mats in.
I'm going to get all cleaned up and ready for fresh paint.
Taking the dash out will help me do the wire tuck, I hope...

Found out you can haul an unassembled 2 1/2 ton engine hoist in the back. Also getting to the final stages of my swap. Can't wait to do all of this only to find out an oil ring is goofed up or something like that.
