Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
The context was in reference to not just reading emails, but reading emails from a Honda Civic subforum. The emails come through; I click and read. I’m pretty sure we all have the right whether to read our emails.
Idk why, but his being triggered seemed to be due to me buying a $37 VW radiator for experimenting to see if it would fit in my car, hence his comment of “thanks for paying $42 for that $22 plastic radiator.”
The accusation of insanity would seem to be a projection of one’s own issues onto another as indicated by the response (ON A HONDA CIVIC SUBFORUM) to reading emails from a Civic subforum.
I could be wrong, but if I’m not, it’s the internet. Get over it. And if you can’t, I’ll say seriously what I said jokingly before: succhiandomi il culo.

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
I FINALLY had my rusty quarter panels cut out and welded. For months, I was torn between doing it myself and just paying someone to do it. Well, my laziness prevailed and I just paid Maaco to take care of it. I'm actually surprised with how well it turned out. Sure, the bumper looks a little goofy at the quarter panel, but it's an aftermarket bumper and doesn't fit 100% anyways. so WHOGAF. DYC had their 20% off Summer Sale going on this weekend so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on my Frozen Blue pro series car kit. Once I dip the wheels gunmetal, I'll work on dipping the car and I'll finally be proud of this thing, cosmetically speaking. Otherwise, this has been an awesome little car! Just under 130k miles and no real issues to date.
How much did it cost for Maaco to take care of the welding?

Some radiator fitment pics...
Here’s an underside view of the VW radiator installed.
I got an 8” Mishimoto fan so that it’s clear the exhaust.

You guys took it out of context. I work at an autoparts store. Take it how you want I was just saying everything comes from china regardless of if you came to my store or eBay. I wasn't saying you did anything, just that working retail sucks. Sorry if I offended you? Not sure what you want from my statement. I'm goofy I'll make fun of myself to prove a point that I wasn't being serious. No need to look deeper than me just being random and complaining about my job and the economy. Trust me I'm not here to troll anyone, im on the forums for fun and joking around.

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
So despite how I came off im actually here to contribute
First off the eBay $19 oil pan I bought is flaking off into the oil pickup tube. The paint coating in the bottom of the pan is flaking off and is stuck in the pickup tube. Ive pulled the rear main seal and oil pump already. I'm not sure if I can get away with just soaking the pan in air craft stripper, its almost as if the paint is flaking off because of the oil in the pan

My z6 intake showed up, ive cleaned it up and have it standing ready. I also bought some really random parts on eBay. Found a factory honda service manual for less than an arm and a leg and some one was selling their factory collection of dealer stickers and owners manual and I spotted a set of factory honda fog light instruction guide. Never seen one of those in English

everything comes from China except the water pump I pulled off my old Accord: Made in USA. Lol
Egads! You don’t think that oil pan was made in China do you?

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
I suspect the oil pan was re-sprayed by seller.
I would hazard a guess from factory the oil pan is powder coated so baked on dry paint. I bet any wet sprayed product won't last against the chemical packages of oil etc.

I bought the pan new, and it was the cheapest on eBay. I'll have some pictures up in a few minutes. Today I plan to wrap the header and get some grey rtv to finish up assembly.

Imagine some poor soul getting one of those oil pans and not knowing the devastation it could cause...

I would have never known, my father in law (who also lost the title to the car when I gave him a car because he was between jobs) over tightened the oil pan gasket because he couldnt figure out why the car was leaking oil. Apparently a nickel size drop a day from the rear main seal is terrifying when youve never had to drive anything but a company car your whole life lol
I tossed my original pan back in April so I'm kinda stuck with this eBay one. The original one was dented pretty hard
This trans shows how much oil has been leaking over this cars life. I didn't show the block cleanup but the whole bay was nasty and the block had atleast 3 inches of oil slime

You gotta tell me your trick on cleaning that up, it all looks really good.
I haven't figured out a way to get it that sparkly without letting any non environmentally friendly crap go to storm drains etc.

The transmission I took to a pressure washer coin operated. I'm not sure if that's friendly or not
The block I have used several methods. Soaking in the gel block cleaner with oil drain pans under it was the rest method. Scoop it off with shop towels. I think I've used 6 cans of brake cleaner and 4 cans of degreaser. At one point the stench was creeping though the walls from all the chemicals.
After that I use a small pic and scrape out the corners. I scrape it down with a wire brush, spray with brake cleaner then wipe it down. Step 3 is vht aluminum paint, the aluminum surface is stained so paint is the only solution once clean
24 hours cure time for paint and rtv is a key in my rebuilds. I also have 5 or so drip pans I use under everything, and cardboard down under everything.
I couldnt risk the pan. Its bad, really bad. I would have to cut out the baffling to make sure it was completely clean again and then figure out how to put the baffling back in
Heres the rebuild guide im using. Stupid manual is coming across country. 2 weeks ship time rediculous!

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
dad jokes lol
It's been over 90 days so no point in emailing the seller. For reference the car ran fine and had no issues I just happened to pull the pan to rebuild it.
I'll email the seller, but I dont see a point. Just take it as a loss of $30 and never buy a cheap part for an important job
