Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
Success! 3.5-4 hours later, Ignition harness in, alarm still works, car starts and alarm wire connections are now soldered and shrink tube wrapped instead of crimp connected and exposed.
Cost, 25 bucks at pick a part.

I wish I could get that much done in 4 hours. It took me four hours to replace a motor mount and I had to get help.
One 14mm mount bolt came easy and the 19mm came out of the bracket easy. The nut on the mount bolt and the other 14mm had to be coaxed.
Chased all the threads and coated everything in anti-seize.
In case anyone is wondering, the threads are:
M10 x 1.25
M12 x 1.25
M6 x 1 (for the splash shield) (these may actually be M5.5 couldn't see the die well)

I think it depends on the job. I also didn't mention I spent a good 1.5 hours or so prepping the ignition wiring by soldering the alarm connections with the 250/150 watt soldering iron the night before. That way I only had two smaller wires to solder in the car once I got the harness unraveled and began the swap today.
The job you had with those torque mounts, really.... 5 hours probably isn't going to cut it. Those torque mounts nuts and bolts can be serious challenges even at the best of times.
And to make matters worse, it seems the M12 x 1.25 is not a standard tap or die. I'm envious you have that tap to chase the threads, it didn't come with my large set from Canadian Tire.
Side Note: I found out an M10 x 1.50 bolt will feed right into those torque mount frame rail holes/nuts. My billet brackets wouldn't accept OEM bolts and I was unable to find alan head M12 x 1.25. The M10 x 1.50 threaded in without issue and tightened up. Assuming self centering, will be 1mm smaller on all sides but still grips. I did the 1/8 turn method so as to not over tighten and strip the threads and it held up fine for the two years before I got rid of the car.

The wiring is one thing but please do check any relays along the diagram as well as the shifter lock solenoid, of whatever its called. It won't let you start the car if its not either in Park or Neutral.
Had similar problems with my sis db7 and we clean the ignition harness best we could but I ended up replacing it with a new oem one.

That video prompted the question, Tony.
When you zinc coat/galvanize, do you do anything to clean up the threads?

One indicator I was going by was that it has stalled on her twice and she doesn't recall seeing any dash lights on when it has done it, and both times only when it's been chilly out.
Warm sunny days, it acts normal.
And it's always had problem with not cranking during winter unless you push the key into the lock cylinder before turning to III to crank. And even then sometimes not. During summer, never a problem even without shoving the key deeper into the cylinder (actually more like pushing the cylinder in some).
I did grab the whole lock cylinder and key at pick a part if I need to swap tumblers and the other two electrical components on the automatic's lock cylinder.
Letting Time tell me more.

Thank you Tony, I will keep my eye out.

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EG/EK/Del Sol Today
Zinc plating took alot of time because I had to get red of the rust by using white vinegar and sat for 8hrs, once I did that I had it in a tumbler for another 6hrs, after taking them out I cleaned up the threads with a dremel and wire brush or nail to get rid of the cleaning material that was stuck in the threads, than zinc plate process and wire brush again for that shiny zinc plate.
The db7 group thread should have an image of my work. I had to do them in batches to
1. organize where the bolts came from
2. because I only had limited space
I couldn't do the same for the tacoma though because there were so many rusted/corroded *** bolts and it pissed me off that I had someone tell me that the truck was well maintained when in actuality it wasn't.

Re: Tell Us What You Did To Your EH/EG/EK/Del Sol Today
Well I have a bone stock D15B7 1994 DX Hatchback and I haven't done any upgrades yet just a lot of tuning up that the car needed but looking to either K swap it or B swap it. But for the $600 I payed for it it's pretty damn good . Was wondering what's tranny and engine to go with, without having to change much else or if I had to change **** what would be the best one ?

Pulled out the 5sp FWD, mounted up the 6sp AWD and started cleaning up the engine bay. Still the N/A dodge stealth engine inside, the TT block still sitting on the engine stand, not installing until the car is ready.

You're doing a V6 Stealth/3000GT swap into a 5th gen chassis? That'll be interesting... Good luck making that fit in the bay lol.

Been winning some and loosing some, my friend with his 5.0 Mustang traded his in for a coyote so now I can't beat him on street tires. Another buddy got a BMW 335i so it was either get slicks or just go for the awd 6sp turbo already. If I kept pushing it back I would never get started so here I am, gonna drop some cash at the end of this year lol.
