Default tein s. tech like stock ride height on ek????

hey guys i just installed my new tein s.tech springs on my 98 ek hatch and to jump to conclusion they were the same ride height as my bros 98 civic coupe. i can stick about 3-4 fingers in between the gap from the fender to tire. they were also put on with new tokico hp struts.

i was told to let them settle in and ride them for a few weeks.

what do you guys think? did i install them wrong or they just need to settle

Did you happen to get the springs from ebay and the Tein written on the springs were stickers instead of paint?

I think you might of had been screwed.

S-techs are not for slamming your car, they're a mild drop at best. If you want it lower, get lower springs

i put them on my wifes 03 civic. lowered the car about 1.25 all the way around. they did have to settle in though a little bit. i would like to have lowered it a lil more but its the daily wifes car. ride is a bit stiffer but she also has 17 konig feathers.

if u have a hatch that means its pretty lite weight and the springs a universal for ek's so im gonna guess that tein put them on a ex coupe or somthing that is heavier than ur car.
that is probably why and the fact that they are for a small drop.

hope that helps some.

id some what agree...... i had Stech springs before and i liked how they rode and was a decent drop, BUT i didnt like the height issues from side to side which is the main reason i went with Ground Controls myself.

i highly sugest GC coilovers! perfect for the daily driver and winter driver as well. just a few turns and your close to stock height again, or turn it the other way and slam that sucker down!!!!!!!

I have S-Techs and love them. I don't need or want my car slammed to the ground. I scrape at times with these even, but at least I can clear speed bumps without scraping.

I don't track my car or anything, so I don't need a huge differences in handling. S-Techs do handle a bit better than stock springs, but mostly because the center of gravity is lower.

IIRC, S-Techs lower a Civic by 1.7 / 1.9 inches.

the springs are ment for b16 ek from japan... usdm ek or ej6 hatches are much lighter thats why the hight at each wheel is not the same

thanks for the replies guys, ya i think weight would be the issue on my ek, since its only the stock d16(plan on doing a b18b). im just gonna wait for it to settle and see how the ride height is. the ride quality on the s-techs is amazing compared to the cheap coilovers i had, every bump i hit i would feel it lol

i will consider ground control coilovers, i just have never been a fan of how some coilovers ride.

i got them on my em1. about a two in drop all the way around and personally i think they handle great...but i also put on a asr subframe brace and 22mm sway bar at the same time so that might have somethin to do with me not havin the loose ride everyone talks about. sorry bro.

Where did that come from? Not everything is made with the Type R in mind.

These are made for "96-'00 Civics" in general.

I imagine it has more to do with it not settling yet.

If you want an even milder drop and softer ride, Tein H techs are a good choice.
If you use Koni shocks, you can increase the drop by an additional inch, because you can lower the spring perches....

Im actually considering swapping out my H&R sports for some S.techs....my sports are sagging and worn out/clanging together. I dont need a 300+ lb rate, like I thought I used to...

Other way around, IIRC. That may be your issue. Aren't they marked F and R?

ya the longer ones are marked f and the shorter are marked r, but i think your right. do you think they may have mislabeled them by accident?
