Teg Cluster to 5G civic install pics (700k images)
Well I finally got back the pictures and got my scanner working so here is it all.
heres the guage as I got it out of the box
here's how much I had to cut off it to make it fit. I just cut the whole side down almost flush with the guage face. Later I cleaned it up better and painted over the edges black so they werent as visible.
I didn't have a 'teg harness for the cluster so I made my own of sorts. I soldered leads to the pads of the 'teg cluster and wired them to two plugs. these I matched the wiring of the civic harness so I could just cut in different plugs on the civic side and go right on.
and here's what the harness looked like. I wanted to splice it so if I ever decided to go back to a civic guage cluster I could just plug it in and go, so now my car is dual compatable after I had everything checked out and working I went back and soldered each of the wires, make sure you do this!!!
Here is the new cluster with all the wires plugged in and sitting on the steering wheel
the cluster dosent fit in the factory holes, but it does sit just fine between the two verticle bars that the old cluster mounts to. originally I was going to make an adaptor plate to go on either end so I could screw it on, but I just ziptied the sucker in place and it sits just fine, and any looseness that was left is gotten rid of by the front dash piece which pushes it firmly back.
And now lets look at the final product ...
And here is a quickie before and after pic
There you are!
-----
other notes: recently I went back and fixed it all up so it fit better in the dash, it sits a little higher now so the top portion of the cut lip is only visible in the very corners of the dash. I didn't bother with the cover plastic, I don't mis it one bit at all really.

for effort and the hardwork.
imo, the fact that you can see the top part of the cluster where it was cut, ruins it. otherwise, it's decent.

Re: Teg Cluster to 5G civic install pics (STD ONEpointSIX)
he does it for 130 + the cost of the cluster but he uses your stock cluster and guts it and puts the teg guts in the stock cluster and after a little bondo magic and some paint you get a factory looking cluster.

Re: Teg Cluster to 5G civic install pics (SleeperEG6)
it nice but doesnt look clean that's one downfall but it's someting different
acura_typer's clusters are nice, but I just really disliked the plasticy bondo on the bezel and the front plastic not fitting, with the odometer reset button hole and all that, I think it looks cleaner without the plastic. but if you want a one up no mod swap, that's the best thing for ya

it is a civic shell (back and front clear plastic) with integra internals.

Re: Teg Cluster to 5G civic install pics (Extent)
Has anyone attempted to switch the teg internals into the eg cluster?! In my opinion I think it looks really good! (It could almost past for stock if they didn't know what to look for.) I was just wondering if it is really as hard as everyone makes it seem?! Also, would it be possible to use the teg plastic and just cut it to fit the eg housing?! That way you wouldn't be left with that nast hole?! Just an idea! I'd love to hear some more feedback on this idea!
