Tech Topic - Hardware Needed to Install Civic Si Lip - $AVE MONEY and do it Right!
Well, I dont have all of my pics yet so I will be updating this soon. I just wanted to go ahead and start the thread.
I recently purchased a Si (?) front lip from a 1993 Civic Coupe. It is supposed to bolt right onto a Civic HB. The lip was around $80 from Honda.
When I inquired about the mounting hardware I was shocked. Each of the clips (speednuts) were $3.05 each and there are 11 of them! That doesnt even include the mounting bolts, which I didn't bother to ask the price of.
What did I do...? Well, I didnt buy them at Honda. But, I am still one of those guys who wants to do things right so I went to my local Paint and Body Supply House, you know the ones that service P&B Shops...the pro ones. I bought some appropriate "looking" speednuts from them for $2.50 per pack of 4! So $8 later I had the needed speednuts. I then went to a local fastener supply house and got some Allen Head bolts (1/4-20) to fit the fasteners, along with "fender" type washers. All of the hardware is black oxide or something like that.
Also, since I only got 12 bolts and 12 washers the dude that worked there said "no charge." Cool...
The heads of the bolts are low profile, rounded and discreet, so it looks correct. Plus with them being allen heads there is less of a chance someone will unbolt my lip and re-install it on their ride.
I will get more pictures up for you all soon
Thanks

I have about 20 of those including all the hardware that came with them. If anybody wants them, just pay for shipping and they are yours.
