Tech Question For GSR'd hatch owners....
swapping my engine in a couple weeks after all the crazziness from christmas is over with. My question however was to all gsr'd hatchbacks(EG's). I was wondering wether i should get custom piping or get a nice cat-back and add a test pipe(tell me your opinion without worrying about price. Also if any of you have a test pipe, could you give me the measurments so i can have one made.....Thanks

Get a good muffler then have a shop 2.25" pipe it for you(w/o a cat)...alot less than some name brand deal and just as effective too

I have a custom setup. Nice and quiet. I suspect that I'm losing power through this setup, but it's probably better than stock, and it attracts zero attention from the police.
Custom is the best flexability. I might suggest a custom setup from front to axle, and then an aftermarket axle back section.

.....but wouldnt you get better airflow through an aftermarket cat with a test pipe because it has less bends than a custom made one? Just my assumption, please tell me if im wrong though

Screw catbacks!
Buy a nice header, I got a JDM DC header cus I was on a budget.
I drove to my closest muffler shop and told them I wanted 2.5" ID Mandrel Bent piping from the header back, with a test pipe, a big resonator, custom mounts for my 80mm Apexi n1...
I also reccommend 2.5" piping over 2.25"...it will make power later on when you modify the motor more (assuming yur going n/a) and it will give you a nasty top end. Even if you loose some torque down low, your gsr motor is NOT going to have a problem moving around yur hatch chassis...trust me! I had a friend with a EG hatch that weighed within 30lbs of mine, had same motor/tranny/mods...only difference was I had 2.5" exhaust with test pipe and jdm dc header, and he had 2.25 exhaust with cat and dc 4-1 header. I walked on him so hard, it almost didn't make sense..lol

I have a 92 vx hatch /GS-R. My motor is stock for now. I am running a Jdm ITR Dc sports 4-1 header with a 2 1/2 inch collector, no cat and a custom 2 1/2 '' exaust. My personal best time is a 14.1 @ 98 on street tires. I have raced gsr hatches before and pulled from them after 7000 rpm. I feel that the exaust helped out.

Re: Tech Question For GSR'd hatch owners.... (myhatchrips)
I would recommend finding a deal on an aftermarket exhaust, any company will work APEX'i, GReddy, or Tanabe. Then I got a shop you can go to locally that can make you a custom testpipe/flexpipe that can connect the rest. That is what I have along with a DC JDM 4-1.

BTW: My DX hatch went 14.30's @98 with just i/e/h and horrible 60fts. The 2.5" piping did help im sure of it. And when I added the Skunk2 Intake manifold, just that dropped me to 13.91@99mph. Just gotta get back to the track one more time with my new setup..
