Default Tech: Oil leak - Eye Candy: Pics of my ride...

The picture above shows a oil cooler line that has been plugged (blue AN plug). Hence the engine is not turboed anymore. You can see liquid weld around the plug, here is where small amount of oil is being leaked. I don't want to buy another oil pan, should I just add more coats of the JB liquid weld, or what do you think my options are? The oil is being dripped onto the header and I can't stand the smell of burning oil...

Thanks for all the input. Please comment on my ride, BTW, the car looks worse in person...

You went and got that bung welded on right? Its just not stuck on there with jb weld right? Cause if it is just stuck on there with jb weld i say you should pull the pan and go have it welded on for a couple of bucks.

Yeah, it was welded on... Then the JB weld to patch it. I think oil might be coming from the AN connector as well... Maybe some teflon tape?

I would get a new oil pan, and keep the old one. JUST incase you decide to back turbo

Simple fix for your oil leak would be a trip to the junk yard for a B-series oil pan . Keep an eye on your oil levels, and take care of it ASAP!

to clean it off thoroughly enough to get the JBWeld to seal you maay need to remove the oilpan anyhow.
at least clean it with alcohol after draining the oil from the oilpan before you try to reapply some JBWeld to seal it again, that way you wont be as prone to leaks.

car looks good !

Teflon tape could help. If the an cap isn't sealed correctly, it will leak. Either way, you might want to take off the pan and re-do it however. Not easy to do a good job under the car.

Very nice ride!

But all that money+work and you won't go pick up an oil pan from the junkyard just to be on the safe side? That's a whole lotta money down the drain should that jb weld "seal" decide to burst. Just my .02

Thanks for the replies, yeah, I figured that was the case. Damn oil pan, does anyone have a suggestion on where to get one for cheap? The junk yards around here WILL NOT part anything off a b-series, pointless IMO... Do they include the gasket with the pan?

Do not, I repeat do not ever re-use an old oil pan gasket-you'll have to re-do it again anyways so it's not worth it-this is coming from very personal experience

Oh, I know, I never reuse a gasket. I ment do new oil pans come with gaskets. Like when I bought random parts during the engine build-up many parts did not include the gaskets, most times then didn't even mention it...

EVIL_EKology: Thanks for the links!

What's up with your valve cover breather tube?

It is my catch-can, I used my A/C can, clean it out. It has two outlets, on as you see goes to PCV valve and the other to the valve cover breather hole.

I was inspiried by Nerdsports...

EDIT: It's hard to see because the clutch fluid resiviour is blocking the can...

Yeah, I would say pull the plug, and put teflon tape on the plug and if the leak is from the bung use JB stick, not JB weld on it. I tried fixing a VERY small tranny leak with JB weld, but because it was liquid the leak kept coming through. JB stick fixed it the first time since it is more solid and sets much quicker.

I agree with everybody, get a new oil pan

Even since I had that motor, that JB Weld leak was my problem. I exchanged my original oil pan for this one that already had a bung for a return line for my turbo and found out that the dude didnt do a good job of welding it. So we had to re weld it together and JB Welded it and it did the job for awhile.

Car looks nice man.

My car is still dead, havent had time to call my friend to help me put themotor in.
