Default TDO5H-18G on a B18b swap; 98 civic.

does anyone have a B18b with turbo? im swaping my stock 98 civic for a B18b engine. Any pros and cons that anyone knows of? i got all the specs and numbers from previous posts. so thank you. im trying to just build the engine while its still outside the car, with the turbo. rather then bolt on nonsence when its installed. do it right the first time no? just wondering if anyone has this set up and what to look for or has parts? thanks.

How much boost are you planning on running? That would determine if you need to/should build the motor up before you turbo it.

Dont know of many "cons" with the plan you have. B18B1's (LS) motors enjoy being boosted as the compression ratio is a bit lower than thier vtec counterparts. They have also been proven to hold a significant amount of boost on stock internals.

The most important aspect of forced induction is tuning. You already said you searched around here and did alot of research so you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. As long as its professionally tuned you should have a very reliable setup that should last for years to come with minimal maintainence.

So what exact plans do you have including how much boost you plan to run. You definitely seem to be on track thus far man! Definitely good to see. Usually people come on to this forum and thier first post is a really stupid, vague, and common sense question that makes everyone verbally destroy you haha.

Good luck, and we'll help you out with whatever questions you may have. Also post this in the forced induction forum as those turbo guys know MUCH more about your topic than I do. And to answer your last question....yes MANY MANY MANY MANY people have that setup, the boosted LS motor in a Civic, very common so you shouldnt have a problem getting all of the information you could possibly ever need on this subject.

No problem man..were here to help. But if you want more help can you answer the questions I posted above? How much boost do you see yourself running? That will determine ALOT as far as what you need to buy, and what you need to do.

Definitely stick around the site and spend ALOT of time reading. You'll amaze yourself at how much there is to learn around here and there really arent many questions you can have that you wont find the answers to on this site.
