Targa top seal/repair help
Just bought a 94 Del sol si. I noticed that it’s muggy in the car when it rains but it’s not damp. The window on the left side does have a lot of condensation though. The seals on the roof aren’t too bad but the mugginess is telling me I should repair it.
how should I go about restoring the roof and left side window seal (just to make sure)
i saw some post lost a while ago about silicone spray but I can’t find it anymore. Heeeelp

it is mainly a conditioner but can and has helped to restore near-dead seals. there is no miracle product for this. petroleum based products will swell the seal, but will also cause it to break down (and fast). try the grease, it's a cheap thing that might work. even if it doesn't help the failing part of yours, it will at least help to prolong the life of the rest.

You're asking to 'restore' your seals. This is a similar product used on toyotas. Please share the information you found to show that this product doesn't work.

I don’t think I said it doesn’t work but maybe I worded it wrong. I keep seeing that it’s meant for a lubricant unless I’m reading it wrong.

Yeah I saw somewhere they said something about silicone spray but I can’t seem to find where I saw it. I keep seeing posts about Honda stopped making the replacement parts for it. I also saw somewhere that I shouldn’t use a universal seal. I’m gonna have to keep looking or just get a used one off eBay.

Only the left side is getting condensation? I've understood that the quarter front windows on the Del Sol over time bend outward due to constant closing of the doors over the years. It could explain why only your left side is showing condensation with seemingly adequate rubbers.
The trick here is to bend it back with some persuasion but to be careful at the same time. I've done this to my Del Sol as well and so far it is fine. I also used silicone spray.
Can anybody else back me up on this?

Re: Targa top seal/repair help
I'm just trying to understand because I'm not getting a strait answer from google lol.
If I use silicone spray, will it start to fill in any cracks? I just bought it 5 days ago and I brought it to the shop so I haven't had much time with it. I just noticed the condensation on the whole RIGHT (my apologies I think I said left) window and thought the seals might be bad. ill have to look it over more when I get it back but I'm just starting to prepare what I'm going to need.
Although im not too familiar with working on cars and im trying to learn, I figured the oil pan gasket isn't for beginners.

Re: Targa top seal/repair help
I don't think I should now. we had a warmer day when it rained. im in new jersey and its gotten colder since then. definitely when we have a warmer day. Its more of a mugginess/condensation on the right interior window, rather than a leak

Re: Targa top seal/repair help
exactly why I made this lol. im going to stop at Honda for the grease, check the window as well as buy the silicone spray. Im over doing it probably but I don't want ice forming inside the car. im going to get a car cover too

@tony_2018 Will do! I saw some forum online (link below) that shows and solves all del sol's leaks. Im gonna use the grease first though as well as make sure the corner window is straight. Thank you :D

Re: Targa top seal/repair help
Shin etsu is great. Here some helpful tips. Clean and degrease your seals first with a mild cleaner, then finger bang the heck out of those seals with the shin etsu grease. Reallt get it in there. It helps restore the seals and makea them swell up. Good stuff, also, if you remove the door panel at the top if the top of the door behind the panel they are these little white plastic adjustors that when turned apply more or less inward pressure on the top of the window to help tighten or loosen the seal it makes to the seal itself.. Aside from upgrading to 95+ seala, thats about the best advice i can give bud. Hope it helped
