tapping the oil passage in a head for b20v
hey, i tapped the hole and plugged it with a 3/8"-24 tap/plug.
it leaked.
how should i re-do it? i can't afford a bunch of headgaskets so i want to do it once and be done.
should i get a 1/2" NPT tap and pipe plug? I don't think there is anything between 3/8" and 1/2" pipe plugs made or available....
all i know is that my 3/8"-24 allen head set screw with teflon didn't hold and seems to be leaking. thanks.

i don't use stop leak. never have. bought this motor at 160k miles (b16, swapped in b20 block shortly after)
no stop leak has ever touched this motor, ever. nor will it. ever.
stop leak sucks
am i the only person familiar with 'emulsification'?
'the formation of a mixture of two liquids, such as oil and water, in which one of the liquids is in the form of fine droplets and is dispersed in the other.'
'the mixing of two substances that are not normally mixable with the use of a substance that can mix with each.'
'the blending of two or more usually nonblendable substances'
IN OTHER NEWS: WHEN OIL AND WATER MIX AND ARE WHIPPED TOGETHER IN A WATERPUMP SPINNING 7 THOUSAND RPM - YOU GET WHAT YOU SEE IN THE VIDEO
in all seriousness. that video shows oil in my coolant, that's all.
which means my oil plug is faulty (not-plugging) or headgasket is bad, but those would be different symptoms.
so i have emulsified oil in my coolant.
which means oil leak.
which means oil plug in head is faulty.
which means i'm asking the same question again.
I tapped a 3/8 -24 machine screw hole in my oil passage, and it leaks.
apparently i need a pipe plug. NPT (national pipe thread) and machine screw thread/pitch don't match up
what should i re-tap the hole to? in NPT....

that is not from tapping the head for a b20v or lsv the only thing that would happen if it were to leak is it would leak externally not into coolant are u sure u got the right port? if you look at where you tapped where the head meets the block you should be able to see the plug
