tachometer question...
my tach stopped working, the ecu getting tach signal but the tach doesn't work. I checked behind it, its all plugged it correct and tight, so I'm assuming it screwed ups omewhere int he dash harness between the ecu and the cluster. NOW MY QUESTION IS, is it possible to splice the tach wire coming out of the dizzy and run it to the tach wire that blugs into the cluster? Would this likely solve my problem...?

yes, but not from dizzy, too far. use the blue wire from the top right(driver) of engine bay, near fire wall. its all by itself in a plastic cap. make sure there is still a ground getting to the back of you tach first..

alright, sry for being ignorant to this ****, haha. But use a fluke? whats a fluke? Today I ran a wire from my engien bay to cabin for when I do the tach wiring. Anyone be kind enough to show wiring pinouts for the plug into the cluster, I'm pretty sure there will be more that one blue wire going in. ITs a gsr cluster in an EK...
and you sure that this will wgive the tach wire going into the cluster signal?

It is a electronic piece, they do break.Have you tried another cluster? Did you take the tach out the cluster and if so did you tighten it good putting it back?

didn't take the tach out of the cluster itself, its a GSR cluste rin my EK if that matters. Everything else is working, thats why its making me think its fine.

you need to get a fluke (multimeter) and play with that for awhile. are you sure the wires from the gsr cluster are wired in correctly?
it just quit working one day?
\cant think of any reasons?

Look man, do hte obvious first, plug another cluster up, start it up, and see if the car runs. If the tach works, then you obviously need a new tach or cluster. That's what it sounds like. You shoulda did that b4 doing all this wiring. Always check the easiest thing first.
EDIT: Amplify that last sentence times 10, always the easiest thing first...if your gas guage doesn't work, and your car dies, check to see if it has gas, don't look in your engine bay with a flashlight for 2 hours for dents in the oil pan to see if you have a thrown rod.

It doesn't even have to fit, just plug it the hell in and start ur car to see if the tach moves...nobody said anything about a aftermarket tach, that's the second time you brought that up in DEFENSE...nobody's even mentioned it.
Damn bro, just plug in another cluster and see if it works, **** dies, it could have just died...it DOES happen y'kno? This **** DOES break...
