Tachometer not working

Tachometer not working
On sunday my distributor was taken out the car by me and my mechanic for some inspection, installed new rotor and cap, and put back the distributor , also new cat, after that when the car was ready to start, the tachometer stopped marking rpms, does anybody have a clue why????any input appreciated.
