Default Tachometer???

I have a 94 eg. I've had a sohc non-vtec and an LS motor in the car and the tach worked fine. But when i put a gsr motor in it, the tach still stops at 7000 rpms. I have a itr swap in it now, and the same thing. 7000 rpms and the tach stops there. My car has been tuned to 8500 rpms, so i know that it should be goin further. I have a auto meter pen size shift light in it, and it is right on with the ecu. And i have already changed gauge clusters. Has anyone else had this problem? And how did you fix it?????? if you did..Thanks

Berta

stock tachs aren't very acurate at all... get an aftermarket one and see if it works better

i would think that it would go past 7k since the ls would make it there.?.

your tach just stops going at 7k? and your motor keeps going? why are you trying to rev to 8500 anyways?

its like its out of syns. When the motor is at 8500, the tach is at 7200. 8500 is where my itr motor stopped making power when i got it tuned..

8200 is the rev limit on the factory ecu for gsr and itr. So mines goes alil beyond by 300. Not too high.

not to be nit picky, but the ITR (P73) red lines at 8400 and rev limit is at ~8700.
the GSRs revlimiter is 8200, red line is slightly lower.

I ran up to 8500 RPM on my 92 civic cluster with no problem. It simply went past the markings.

where did you tap into the tach line? from the ECU or from the distributor?
does the engine seem like it runs ok higher than 7k? (signs of a bad ignitor)

It runs fine, like it did on the dyno. No hesitation at any time. I'm using the factory tach only. And for the shift light, i plugged in to the tach test plug at the brake booster.

Borrow an aftermarket tach and see what that shows you.
